Print Manager
-------------
Version 1.00
-------------
Copyright (c) 1991 David A. Feinleib
------------------------------------
Introduction
------------
- The Windows Version
The new Print Manager allows those users that have a Hewlett Packard laser
printer with a postcript cartridge to switch easily back and forth between
HPPCL mode and postcript mode.
Windows will run the new Print Manager instead of the old one. The new
printman.exe will check which driver is selected (HPPCL or postcript) and
send a command to the printer to switch to the appropriate mode.
- The DOS version
The DOS version of the program, which may be run by running printman.exe
from the DOS command line, allows you to switch printer modes from DOS.
The DOS version allows you to switch between HPPCL and postcript modes.
For more information, run printman.exe from the DOS command line.
Installing The New Print Manager
--------------------------------
To install the new Print Manager, you must run the PRSETUP (Print-Setup)
installation program. This program contains the necessary files for
the new Print Manager. The install program does the following:
- Renames the printman.exe file that comes with Windows to p.exe
- Writes a new printman.exe to your Windows directory
- Writes printset.exe to your Windows directory
- Puts printset.exe on the run= line in your win.ini file
To run the installation program, select File... Run... from the Program
Manager and then run the prsetup.exe program.
The Printset Program
--------------------
The new Print Manager stores information about the current printer mode.
The printset.exe program resets the printman.exe information when
Windows is first run, since it assumes that your printer will be in
Postcript mode when Windows is started.
The files (printman.exe and printset.exe) must be kept in the Windows
directory or Windows will not be able to find them correctly.

Pos Pos displays the mouse cursor position in relation
to the screen (screen coordinates) and in relation
to the window which has the input focus. Pos makes
a good addition to the Windows Software Development
Kit and is also useful when selecting monitor
resolutions. It was originally developed to
allow the user to move the mouse cursor to screen
positions ahead of time.
RunProg RunProg allows you to run a program at a preset
size. This means that you could, for example,
always run PaintBrush maximized.
Lock Lock is a keyboard lock and screen saver. It will
automatically lock the keyboard after a certain
time.
Click Click will produce a keyboard "click". This is
especially useful to those users who have used
a keyboard click for DOS but have been unable to
find one for MS Windows. The duration and
pitch of the click may be easily changed by the
user.
Hop The only computer Hop-Over puzzle. Hop is a short
form of Chinese Checkers. (Hop can undo moves and
solve the puzzle automatically, if you want it to.)
Slide Slide is the Classic Sliding Block Puzzle.
Features:
- Saves and retrieves games
- Can undo moves one at a time
- Saves last game automatically
- 3x3 to 9x9 puzzle size
For DOS:
DskNum DskNum estimates the number of disks needed for
a DOS Backup. It estimates for 360Kb, 720Kb,
1.2Mb, and 1.44Mb disks.
DlFile
(with DirSrch) DlFile goes through your disk directories looking
for the filespec you specify. If found, it prompts
to delete it. This is very convenient for finding
and deleting "*.BAK".
Mem Mem displays the amount of conventional memory
in your computer and the amount free. It displays
information about extended memory if you have
it in your computer.
These programs are available on BIX, CompuServe, the Boston Computer
Society's IBM BBS, and from other ShareWare libraries. If you would like
more information, you may contact me as shown above.
